Stainless Steel & Grade Defination

Grade 200-202 Series - austenitic iron-chromium-nickel-manganesealloys. Low cost, rust when the outer chromium layer demolished. Oxidized over times (color turn into down/black).

Grade 304 - the most common material for medium-high class cutlery/cookery; the classic 18/8 stainless steel as austenitic which are non-magnetic. Corrosion, oxidation & heat resistance. Carbon content less than 0.03%.

Grade 316 - Alloy addition of molybdenum to prevent specific forms of corrosion. For improved corrosion resistance at temperatures less than 60oC. Higher in cost compares with grade 304. Used in super grade cutlery.

Grade 410/420 Series - ferritic and martensitic alloys. Rusted over times. Used in knifes, bolts, nuts, screws, bushings, pump and valve parts and shafts, mine ladder rungs Low cost or similar cost to grade 200-202 & etc.

Grade 430 - a non-hardenable grade that combines good corrosion resistance, formability and useful mechanical properties. Used in Low cost sinks, decorative trim, washing machines, dishwashers, cookers (wok & pan), refrigerators, pipes & etc.
